The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers suffered defeat against the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 0-3, on Oct. 20, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Malate, Manila.

The Lady Blazers failed to establish their presence at the playing court as they could not counter the Lady Warriors’ drop attacks. Casiey Dongallo and Riza Nogales were at the helm of the Lady Warriors as they led a seesaw battle against the Lady Blazers spearheaded by Mary Grace Borromeo and Mycah Go. However, the Recto Squad had more steam in their engines as they secured the first set, 19-25.

The second set showcased well-oiled action from Clyde Catarig as she led the Lady Blazers into an early lead, 3-1. However, Lady Warrior Beatrice Zamudio also shined as the ladies in white and red capitalized on the Taft squad’s penetrable defense to capture another set, 18-25.

The third set witnessed a more alert and composed Taft Squad with Borromeo tying the game at 7-7; along with Zam Nolasco’s service ace that resulted in a deadlock, 9-9. Kizzie Madriaga led the Recto Squad as they engaged in a gridlock with Benilde. Jelai Gajero placed the final nail on the Lady Blazers’ floor as she claimed the game for the Lady Warriors, 23-25.

The Lady Blazers will attempt to mount a comeback against the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 25, at 5:00 p.m. at the same venue.

Set Scores:

CSB (0) vs UE (3): 19-25, 18-25, 23-25
