De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde defended its title of “School of the Year” after bringing home a total of 24 distinctions in the 10th Philippine Student Quill Awards, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
The theme for this year’s Quill Awards, "Past Forward," puts a spotlight on the value of remembering the past and its pivotal role in charting our course into the future. It underscores the valuable insights derived from past achievements and challenges, emphasizing the significance of learning from both adversities and triumphs, and how our historical narrative intricately shapes and delineates the contours of our identity.
The event commenced with the announcement of the recipients of the Merit Award and Excellence Award within the Student Quill category. DLS-CSB earned a total of 22 awards, featuring entries from the Student Publications Unit’s two organizations, namely the Benildean Press Corps (BPC), the official student-journalists’ organization of the College, and Ad Astra, the sole organization responsible for producing Benilde’s official yearbook.

The College also received the Top Award for Communication Skills for BPC’s official art and design folio, “Horizons: Apophenia.” Additionally, other BPC entries, such as “Horizons: Apophenia Submissions Campaign” and “Woes of the Silenced” were nominated for the same award.
The criteria for each award entail that entries achieving a total average score between 5.25 and 5.74 will be granted a Merit Award, while those attaining a total average score of 5.75 and above will be honored with an Excellence Award.
DLS-CSB's received the coveted "School of the Year" award after winning 16 Merit Awards and 6 Excellence Awards.
The University of Santo Tomas placed 2nd for School of the Year, followed by Colegio de San Juan de Letran, which earned recognition as the 3rd place runner-up. Lastly, the Philippine High School for the Arts secured the 4th place.
The Philippine Quill Awards, is the country's premier business communication awards program, and has bestowed its seal of approval upon the most reputable organizations and corporations in the country. Both the Philippine Quill and the Philippine Student Quill Awards recognize outstanding communication research, programs, skills, and creative work.
