The AcadArena Scholarships & Aid (ASA) initiative aims to provide educational assistance, financial grants, and peripheral upgrades to talented student gamers who need support to pursue their academic and gaming goals. The ASA initiative includes three new scholarships that Filipino students can apply for and be a step closer to achieving their gaming dreams.
In anticipation of their CONQuest Festival 2023 in June 2023, AcadArena, the Philippines’ premier organization for campus esports and gaming, maintains the goal of supporting the country's youth by providing avenues for students to pursue their passions and interests in gaming while still prioritizing their education. To push this support for student gamers, the organization has recently announced new scholarships, including two full-ride scholarships in collaboration with 100 Thieves creators Valkyrae and Fuslie.
Valkyrae Homecoming Scholarship
The Valkyrae Homecoming Scholarship is a merit-based grant available to Filipino students who are passionate about playing games while efficiently managing their academic pursuits. Three awardees will receive a full-ride scholarship worth PHP 180,000 (one-year tuition).
Fuslie's Scholarship for Women in Gaming
Meanwhile, the Fuslie's Scholarship for Women in Gaming aims to empower female students in the gaming space, promote an inclusive and equitable gaming industry, and provide a voice and platform to those speaking against harassment. Two awardees will receive a full-ride scholarship worth PHP 135,000 (one-year tuition).
Applications for Valkyrae and Fuslie's scholarships are open to Grade 12 students to undergraduate college students enrolled in the Philippines. The Application period is from April 4 to May 22, 2023. The awardees will be announced on May 26, 2023, and awardees will also get to meet Valkyrae and Fuslie during the on-stage awarding ceremony on June 4, 2023, during CONQuest 2023.
CONQuest Scholarship
The CONQuest Scholarship, on the other hand, grants one student PHP 100,000 without any required essay. This scholarship is open to students from Grade 12 to Undergraduate College, with the awardee to be announced on June 1, 2023. The application period runs until May 26. Ten random applicants who have applied between Feb. 21 to April 29 will also receive CONQuest Festival 2023 (Friday Pass) to be announced on April 30.
Kevin Hoang, the chief executive officer of AcadArena, expressed his gratitude for 100 Thieves supporting them in their mission. "There's so many creators in the Philippines and in parts of the world where these students have watched them for years through a screen. I'm grateful that we are able to now fight the stigma and work with the best creators in the space,” he said.
