Recognizing outstanding contributions to academic and research librarianship and library development, the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians (PAARL) confers several annual awards, one of which is the “Professional Service Award.” Benilde Center for Learning Resources (CLR) Director Mr. Michael Anthony A. Mojica was the most recent recipient of the prestigious award, recognized for his unwavering support and commitment to the organization's objectives, activities, and dedication to the cause of librarianship.
In an interview with The Benildean, Mr. Mojica expressed his gratitude to the association. “I felt happy, glad, and humbled that my efforts to be of service to the members of PAARL were duly acknowledged.”
Being his first professional home, Benilde significantly impacted his career and development as a librarian. Mr. Mojica owes everything he has learned and loved about his profession to his employment at Benilde, saying, “This institution has been very supportive of both my personal and professional journey, from supporting my studies and training and imbibing in me our core values of being professionally excellent, socially responsible, and appreciative of individual worth.”
In the coming years, Mr. Mojica hopes to lead the CLR team to continuous growth and also be recognized for other PAARL awards, "Academic/Research Library of the Year Award,” "Outstanding Library Program of the Year Award," and "Innovative Library Design Award."
