After the altercation in the Benilde-JRU game on Nov. 8, former Heavy Bombers John Amores personally apologized to the Benilde Blazers during their practice session on Nov. 19.

Benilde Blazers head coach Charles Tiu revealed that the former Heavy Bomber first contacted Carlos Sumabat and was told to reach out to him.

“I told Carlos (Sumabat) to tell him that he can reach out to me anytime so we spoke on the phone a few days ago. We spoke on Thursday and I invited him to practice and if he wanted so he did,” Tiu shared in a post-game interview after their win over the Arellano Chiefs.

Coach Tiu lauded the former Heavy Bomber for apologizing to the players after the altercation. “We're happy that he did, it takes a lot of humility for him to accept his mistakes and come up in front of the whole team to just say sorry. It’s not easy,” the Blazers tactician added.

On Nov. 11, Taine Davis and Jimboy Pasturan filed cases in the Hall of Justice in San Juan against Amores, which according to Tiu, will push through.

“I believe so, as of now. The nice thing about John, he said he’s accepting whatever consequence. He didn’t really ask sila Jimboy (Pasturan) to throw away the case and I said that’s really up to the families of the players,” Tiu mentioned.

The Blazers’ head coach also shared that Amores’ apology greatly impacted the team. However, they moved forward and will focus on their Final Four contention.

“It’s big, but to be honest we really tried to move forward from it already, [..] kami, we already put it in the past and just focus on our next games,” Tiu said.

The Blazers are in the Final Four with a 13-4 record. They are set to face the San Beda Red Lions on Tuesday, Nov. 22, for their last game in the elimination round.
