Ad Astra opens yearbook subscription for ID 117, 118, and 119 graduating students

“Who are you beyond your achievements?” This was the question posed by Ad Astra on May 29, when they formally launched the newest yearbook subscription for “Fragment” through their official Facebook page. #AdAstraFRAGMENT #Time2ClockOut

This year’s PERSPECTIVES, the event that signals the opening of Ad Astra’s yearbook subscription, kicked off “AD ASTRA 2021-2022: Fragment,” the yearbook of the graduating batch of ID 117, 118, 119 students for A.Y. 2021-2022.

“PERSPECTIVES 2021-2022” was a night of pre-recorded and live performances featuring a wide range of Benildean talent, exciting raffles, and other special guests.

Hosted by ID 119 Consular and Diplomatic Affairs student Chantal Laude and ID 118 Multimedia Arts student and Ad Astra’s former Creative Director Franco Babasa, “PERSPECTIVES 2021-2022” aimed to capture timeless experiences and moments while reminding the Benildean community of its identity. Together with social media correspondents ID 118 Fashion Design and Merchandising student Anthony Saranglao and ID 119 Consular and Diplomatic Affairs student Rachelle Tonelada, the excitement for this year’s subscription heightened as it’s now done online for the first time ever.

Beyond one’s achievements

With hopes that the yearbook will be filled with great stories and memories, Benilde President Br. Edmundo “Dodo” Fernandez FSC mentioned in his welcoming remarks that Benildeans shall “remember that the right perspective will build the right character, and will lead to the right path of change. Be a good source of perspective for others.“

Soon after, the College’s resident dance company, Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company, fired up the evening through their exhilarating contemporary and hip-hop virtual performances. They were followed by fellow Benildean talents namely jazz and funk band Why July and duo Anyugh (Anya Fajardo) & Reevxs (Seth Delfin), taking the audiences to nostalgic live music gigs.

On the other hand, a plethora of inspiring Benildean leaders were also featured namely young entrepreneur Alyssa Tan, Mark of Designers Alliance’s (MODA) Brithia Reyes, UNICEF Benilde Head Aieshah Balmori, Benilde Nature Development and Outdoor Club (BUNDOC) Head Julia Ibe, Deaf Educator and Advocate Ms. Ana Arce, Motion Design Artist Mr. Mark Cañega, Youth Advocate Gallahan Ventura, Youtuber Benj Buddy (Benjamin Alfred Santos), Coro San Benildo Member Tao Avellanado, and Benildean Press Corps Creative Director Kai Javier

Other homegrown talents and special guests were also invited, such as musical duo Kyla & Jam, indie-rock trio Nobody's Home, and R&B/Pop artist JMKO (Miko Manguba). Amazing performances from Benilde’s Coro San Benildo and Karilyo were also showcased.

Transition and visual-wise, Ad Astra’s visual editing and graphic design for its online launch and website are truly commendable. Despite the technical difficulties encountered, the event ended with a blast as an after-party was live-streamed featuring DJ Yuan Mendoza and his hype beats to cap it all off.
