De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde is one with the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) in taking a stand against the recent killings of unarmed individuals and activists. CEAP’s statement was disseminated to the Benildean community via email blast on Thursday, March 11, as the College is part of the association.

“We must not tolerate impunity. We must reject this growing culture of death and normalization of killings in our society. (...) A massacre such as this has no space in our society. The promotion of a culture of death must be vehemently condemned for this is not the way of the gospel, this is not the way of our Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot allow our children to grow up thinking that life is not sacred,” the statement highlighted.

In line with the statement, DLS-CSB calls upon the Benildean community to use the lens of the Benildean Expressions of the Lasallian Core Values, specifically the appreciation of individual worth, integrity, social responsibility, and being one with the plight of the poor, in reflecting and praying for the families affected by the tragedy.

They also impelled the Benildean-Lasallians to “stop being afraid and speak up against this ever-growing culture of death” together with faith, especially in the Lenten season.

“As an educational community, what we are envisioning is a just and humane society,” the College’s Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life stated.
