Coro San Benildo, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s resident chorale company, together with the Azusa Pacific University Chamber Singers, triumphed in this year’s INTERKULTUR Video Awards, scoring a prize in the Acapella Category as announced during the presentation of winners via Interkultur’s Facebook last Dec. 24.
Coro’s winning entry featured a heartfelt and superb rendition of Josu Elberdin’s “Izar Ederrak,” which translates to “The Beautiful Star.” The rendition was dedicated to all the noble, modern day heroes who have fought bravely amidst the ongoing pandemic. Additionally, the video featured a montage of photos of frontliners, volunteers, and all those who helped in the relief efforts for those affected by the pandemic.
The video was published online last Dec. 18 on YouTube, and was featured in INTERKULTUR’s Concert of Confidence on the same day. The event featured video submissions collaborated by partner choirs that highlighted “messages of hope and confidence” and “the positive side of 2020.” Participating choirs from all over the world were encouraged to collaborate with other partner choirs on these video projects.
Moreover, the College’s Cultural Promotions Team, Stage Production Operations Team, and Karilyo, all headed by Benilde’s Culture and Arts Unit (CAU), helped produce the video entry.
