Here are the activities and programs to look out for as Benilde Mission Week 2020 goes virtual


As the College adapts to the new normal, Benilde Mission Week 2020 is commemorated virtually in honor of the canonization of Saint Benilde Romançon, DLS-CSB’s Patron Saint, who has made a mark to the etches of Benildean-Lasallian mission, history, and legacy.

Offices under the Benilde Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life (OVPLMSL) launched activities and contests in celebration of the Benildean Mission Week 2020 (BMW2020): VIBE (Virtual Integration of the Benildean Expressions) and Beyond, from October 23 to 30, 2020 on their respective Facebook pages. Check out activities your organization and office can join!

BMW2020 marks the 53rd anniversary of the official recognition of Benilde as a saint. “In Faith, we remember the simplicity and holiness of Saint Benilde. In Zeal [of Service], we celebrate the gift of the Lasallian mission in the Benildean way. In Communion, we believe that we are in this together and by association, because Jesus Christ lives in our hearts, forever!,” stated in the Center for Lasallian Ministry’s (CLM) infographic sent via Benilde mail to the Benildean community.

The list of the occurred and upcoming programs students and employees can participate upon as organized by selected offices under OVPLMSL are as follows:

  • Center for Lasallian Ministry (CLM)
      • October 23:
        • At 3:00 p.m, CLM launched the Benildean Mission Week Looking Back Video in their official Facebook page to reminisce the previous years of the Lasallian mission the way Benilde did. 
        • Consequently, given that Saint Benilde was a Man of Rosary, a prayer of the Holy Rosary in the Lasallian Tradition was live-streamed on Facebook at 6:00 p.m. 
      • Ongoing: Mary’s ViBE (Virtual Benildean Exhibit), a virtual exhibit on the different titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is accessible through their Facebook album with hashtags #BlessedVirginMary and #ViBE. 
      • October 26-28, 2020: Triduum masses will be streamed via Facebook.
      • October 29, 2020, 11:00 AM: A holy mass in commemoration of Saint Benilde’s canonization will be celebrated.

  • Center for Social Action (CSA)
      • Ongoing: With a theme of “Stories of Virtual Integration of the Benildean Expressions,” CSA has launched a BenEx (Benildean Expressions) Video Contest called “What’s your ViBE?” inviting students, associates, and faculty to join and submit their entries. Here are the following notable mechanics, criteria for judging, prizes, and process of submission mentioned in the poster:
      • Mechanics:
        • Each student organization, office, or academic program or area can submit only one entry.
        • It must contain: a.) a five-second title screen with the video’s title and name of student organization, office, or academic program or area represented; b.) at least one Benildean expression, and; c.) a limit of three minutes as maximum.
        • P5,000, P3,000, and P2,000 will be given as first to third prize respectively.
        • Entries may be sent to social.action@benilde.edu.ph.
        • Entries uploaded by CSA on October 27, 8:00 a.m. via their Facebook page will be judged through the following criteria: Creativity (45%), Content Quality (35%), and Online Voting (20%).
        • Online Voting will start by October 27 until October 28, 5:00 p.m. wherein heart reacts will count as one vote. The number of hearts has corresponding points or percentage: 501 and above (20 points or percent), 401-500 (15 points), 301-400 (10 points), and 1-300 (5 points).
        • Submissions are extended until October 26, 2020, 5:00 p.m. Winning video entries will be announced on October 29, 2020 after the Holy Mass.
  • Center for Restorative Discipline (CRD)
      • All infographics or videos listed below under CRD will be posted and livestreamed on their official Facebook Page. Here are the list of the contents that were and will be uploaded with their scheduled date and time of posting:
        • October 23: Infographics about what CRD is, its organizational chart, and what restorative discipline is was posted in the morning; moreover, a video clip by Benildean students entitled “A Restorative Journey” was posted in the afternoon.
        • October 26: “Effective Employee Discipline” (AM) and “Introduction to Restorative Approaches” (PM) video clips
        • October 27: Social media policy: “Social Media in the Workplace” (AM) and “CRD Code of Conduct” (PM)
        • October 28: “We Need To Talk: Insubordinate Irene” (AM) and “How to Become More Disciplined” (PM) Video clips
        • October 29: “What does Bullying and Harassment Mean for You and Your Workplace” (AM) and “Know Your Data Privacy Rights” (PM) Video clips
        • October 30: “Our Restorative Journey from OSB to CRD” Video clip
      • Scheduled morning posts (AM) will be up by 8:00 a.m. while afternoon contents (PM) will be uploaded by 12:00 p.m..
      • All posted videos and infographics under CRD are CSBLIFE accredited, registration form must be filled up before viewing the posted videos and infographics and answering the evaluation form afterwards is required to gain credits for CSBLIFE. 
  • Benilde Well-being Center
  • Deaf unit:
      • October 28: 
        • 10:00 AM: A video presentation on Deafhood and Well-being: Nurturing the Deaf self will be posted on Facebook.
        • 6:00 PM: Deafhood and Well-being: Nurturing the Deaf Self live open forum via zoom and facebook live.

  • Coro San Benildo
      • October 26 (on going): #TagYourBestTeacherChallenge: Magister, an online freedom wall to express gratitude towards educators. 
  • Student Trainers
      • October 30, 6:00 PM: online UNITE 2020: For a common purpose, the biggest college party of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, will be streamed via Facebook Live. Featuring Benildean-Lasallian talents: Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company, Kyla & Jam, Matt Murillo, TALA music, The Stray’s, Nobody's Home, and Why July, DJ Mojit Alamchandani and DJ Rammy Bitong, and  special performances from Roberto Seña of She's Only Sixteen and Freestyle Band. 
      • CSBLife Accredited for Benildeans and is open to the public for viewing. 

Benildus Romançon, F.S.C., more commonly known as Saint Benilde, is the first Christian Brother to be named as a saint after Founder St. John Baptist de La Salle. He was canonized by Pope Paul VI on October 29, 1967.
