In hopes of being a catalyst for social change and the creation of possible solutions, DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild will showcase four of its notable productions—poverty, LGBTQIA+, education, and COVID-19 from September 23 to 27 with “UNMUTE” to be streamed on Animo Space and on Facebook.
Intended to highlight issues like underappreciated frontliners of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Salamat, Patawad, Paalam” by Juan Castillo centers on Nay Doddy who bids her farewell in a quest to return back home. Relating to the theme of being in the pandemic, “White Noise” by Hannah Papa dives into varied perspectives of a student, a parent, and a teacher as they maintain an education during this time.
Moreover, Guion Marciano’s “Sa Muling Pagsikat ng Araw” introduces Maia, a student who loses her will to live, and journeys to regain that despite the tough period of her life. Revolving around the eligibility to vote of 18-year-old Miguel, “Boboto na si Bunso” by Gray Erica sheds light on the youth’s journey of exploring different opinions, leadership, and the importance of exercising one’s vote.
Lasallians and Art Pass Holders may watch the plays from September 23 to 25 every 6:00 p.m. through Animo Space. For non-Lasallians, tickets are priced at Php 100, and will be streamed on Facebook on September 27 at 6:00 p.m.
DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild is the resident theatre guild of DLSU under its Culture and Arts Office (CAO) aiming to promote versatility through “instilling the discipline of professionalism and responsibility.”
