Benilde Central Student Government (CSG) introduced their new initiative—”Benildeans For Benildeans” through their Facebook page last July 17 that aims to help the Benildean community in starting up their own businesses within the pandemic.

With cities enforcing “stay-at-home” and social distancing policies, Benildeans are starting new businesses, and Benilde CSG is offering their service to help Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) owned by students, alumni or their immediate family members thus, creating “Benildeans for Benildeans.”

Benilde CSG aims for the following:

  1. Promote local businesses externally and internally of DLS-CSB.
  2. Create a community wherein entrepreneurs can learn from each other
  3. Provide help to the families of our fellow Benildeans in light of this pandemic

CSG Vice President for Externals and Project Manager of “Benildeans For Benildeans” Darrel Cabarrubias stated in an interview with The Benildean that he was in the process of conceptualizing this initiative that could help the Benildean community when he noticed that some of his co-officers in CSG are starting their own businesses.

“I thought that since CSG has thousand plus followers, we could utilize the reach of our social media accounts to promote the businesses of my fellow Benildeans,” he said.

CSG is planning to start its promotions in the fourth week of July using their Twitter and Instagram account (@BenildeCSG) where they will be posting promotional materials thrice a week and a maximum of five businesses will be featured per post.

Cabarrubias also mentioned that the said initiative will last for about three months with hope that it will keep on running even after the pandemic.

“Especially in this time of pandemic wherein life is really tough and we think starting up a business will surely help us, being extraordinary will take you to places and who knows maybe even after this pandemic their businesses could grow and be sustainable,” Cabarrubias added.
