In a time of crisis, the Gamers Union for Innovation and Leadership Development (GUILD) launched Stream Drive 2020, a three-day stream-for-a-cause event, in partnership with Center for Social Action (CSA) and the Benildean Press Corps (BPC) to assist the Security and Maintenance Personnel of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) last June 27 to 29.

Aside from aiming to encourage gamers and streamers to produce quality content even as beginners, the Stream Drive 2020 primarily served as a donation drive for Benilde’s security and maintenance personnel in aiding the salary freeze due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The streamers who participated are as follows:

Victor Philippe Cabuay (Ayos Buhay Productions) – BS-IEMC

Mickael Martin Carapiet (Mika HD) – BS-ARCH

Alyssa Venise Esguerra (Tanchichi) – BS-IT GDD

Ralph Christian Fajardo (ralphsuuu) – BS-IT GDD

Ian Lyndgrine Martirez (Æsir Gaming) – BS-IT GDD

They went live to succeed in battle rounds and missions through various video games such as Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, SKH Apps’ Pacify, and Riot Games’ Valorant and League of Legends (LOL).

In an interview with The Benildean, Stream Drive 2020 project manager Errica Buenconsejo believed that supporting through social interaction is important. And, she noted, with online streaming, people are able to connect and interact with each other.

“Research shows that video games provide important social, emotional and motivational benefits, and that is exactly what we all need given our situation. We need all the support we can give one another to survive,” she said.

Donations for the cause are open until today, June 30, and can be sent through the Globe GCash QR code and through UCPB.

UCPB donations may be sent to:

Account Number: 120-196262

Account Name: De La Salle College of Saint Benilde

As of posting, Buenconsejo said the donation drive has raised P16, 297.
