Bringing both heat and chill to the runway, International Hospitality Management (BS-IHM) along with Fashion Designing and Merchandising (AB-FDM) students exhibited a four season collection during the Equinox Solstice fashion show held at the ARG theater last March 21.
The show started off by presenting the Spring-Summer collection of each designer followed by the Fall-Winter collection which were judged by fashion designer Justin Oropesa, celebrity fashion stylist Gabby Wu and AVEADENA fashion brand owner Adi Amor.
Sharing the crown, junior FDM students Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki presented a mix of minimalist and maximalist concept in their design. Guardian mentioned that their concept and theme was based off the cycle of life. He added that his design focused on his personal favorite aesthetic which represented birth and development through clashing colors, prints and texture.
“Mine is based on architecture, specifically my design was inspired by the Saint Alphonsus Church in Makati. It’s my architectural theme that made it unique”, Oki said.
Showcasing an unusual color scheme and choice of fabric, senior FDM student Xygge Macadamia achieved first runner up with his fall-winter meets fashion week and spring-summer in street style design. He mentioned that style is a way to show who you are without having to speak.
Taking the 2nd runner up title, junior FDM student Vernon Laranang displayed unique designs and mentioned that his clothes can be worn anytime or anywhere. He added that his design is all about simplicity and practicality.

According to BS-IHM student and Event Manager Marrol Lim, the concept behind Equinox Solstice is based on the four seasons, presenting unity through diversity.
“We chose to organize a fashion show in order to promote camaraderie among students from the different schools of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde apart from School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (SHRIM)”, she said.
Finalizing the decision to hold a fashion show around February, Lim added that they had little time to put this event together ending up with less than a month to pull it off.
A combination of junior and senior FDM designers participated the event, namely Justine Bautista, Jacquelene Foja, Vernon Laranang, Xygge Macadamia, Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki, Chloe dela Rosa and Paula Miculob, Krestein Isles and Renzel Galleta, Sandra Advincula and Stefen Roales, and Xai Sabalon and Renee Avila.
