Benilde defended its title with its fourth consecutive win with the School of the Year title at the 12th Philippine Student Quill Awards. The Student Publications Unit (SPU) and the Benilde Culture and Arts Unit (BCAU) received a total of 54 winning entries that showcased this year’s theme, “Soar: Shaping Outcomes, Advancing Reputations.”
Opening the night, IABC President Mr. Richard Arboleda, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Director at Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Philippines, explained the significance of each award, saying, “In the Philippine Quill, a winning entry is work that makes a meaningful difference.”
Ms. Marzie Marzan, Chair of the Philippine Quill Awards, and CEO and Co-founder of Alpas Group, followed with a message of gratitude toward the people behind the success of IABC and this year’s Philippine Quill Awards. “Let us continue to push for excellence and bring the best of Filipino communication to the global stage,” she concluded.

Presented last was the “School of the Year” major award with Benilde being conferred the title for the fourth consecutive year. The University of Santo Tomas placed first runner-up, while CIIT College of Arts and Technology placed second runner-up.
In a post-awards interview with IABC Philippines, Mr. Max Soliman, Publications Editor and and former Ad Astra Editor in Chief, shared what they believe led them to win multiple awards despite Benilde not having any form of communications program. “[...] Benildeans really are able to do things extraordinarily well. This recognition and the awards received tonight justly reflect the dedication, hard work, talents, and skills of the students [in continuing to tell] stories that matter, and ultimately, stories that exemplify creativity and excellence in communication and journalism.”
