Dreyz Cafe offers a warm, cozy space where Japanese and Filipino flavors blend, creating a unique dining experience with an easy-going vibe—perfect for grabbing a drink, studying, or catching up with friends.
Behind the name
From its name down to its concept, Dreyz Cafe is rooted in the passion of its owner, Ms. Kristina Audrey Casais. Officially established in August last year, the idea first sparked in 2020 during the pandemic, when Ms. Casais and her partner began selling sushi—her longtime favorite—online.
With the growing support of their customers, the venture soon evolved into a sushi catering business. By 2023, their love for coffee pushed them to expand further, with Ms. Casais’s partner learning how to brew specialty drinks and eventually adding a coffee bar to the mix.
“Why not sushi and coffee?” Ms. Casais said in her interview with The Benildean. “Hindi siya common… ang [trend] naman ngayon ay coffee…” she added, when asked about their unlikely but intriguing pairing.
Inspired from other well-known cafes in the metro, the interior of Dreyz is a mixture of Japandi and industrial themes with mixed-matched chairs and tables, whilst also providing a tatami-like sitting area. Pops of personality such as POPMART collectables and a cork board, where customers can post messages, can be seen throughout the establishment, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
The perfect blend
“[...] Usually cafes mostly [serve] coffee and pastries… ‘yung iba naghahanap ng meal talaga,” expressed by Ms. Casais’ partner. That’s where Dreyz Cafe sets itself apart—going beyond the typical cafe menu by offering restaurant-level dishes alongside their drinks. Moreover, their fusion of coffee and sushi showcases their creativity and personality—adding a genuine touch to their brand.
Sea Salt Latte
Sea Salt Latte is one of their best-selling drinks. The strong bitterness of the coffee is balanced out by its salty foam that’s layered on top. This is the perfect drink for coffee lovers and for those who are thinking of getting into coffee. You can try it out for ₱195, or go for the larger size at ₱210 once you’re sure the taste is for you.
Audchatta
With only two seasons in the Philippines, Audchatta brings in Autumn to the table, priced at ₱195 and ₱215. It’s a twist on the classic Horchatta, it’s creamy, sweet, and the presence of cinnamon is not too overpowering. This drink isn’t caffeinated but if you wish for more energy then a shot of espresso can be added.
Sweet Sunrise
A refreshing, fruity mocktail like the Sweet Sunrise is the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day. It’s served ice-cold and it cleanses the palette between savory bites. Give it a taste for ₱155 or take your time with it for ₱170.
Mixing flavors
After an energizing drink, grab a bite and indulge yourself in a fusion between Filipino and Japanese cuisine. With your favorite Filipino dishes elevated to change things up, hand-in-hand with restaurant-level sushi and other Japanese favorites.
Spicy Salmon Aburi
If you’re looking for something with a light kick, the spicy salmon aburi is just the dish for you. It’s savory, fresh, and slightly smokey with torched Salmon Roll and Dreyz special sauce. Dip it in soy sauce and add just a drop of calamansi for an even more pleasing flavor profile. Try it out for ₱190 or indulge in more for ₱375.
Volcano Roll
Living up to its name, the volcano roll brings its elements together for a melty, unique, and cheesy experience. Lightly torched cream cheese sushi is graced with a heap of shrimp tempura and some spicy mayo and mango sauce. Whether you’re just giving it a try at ₱195 or going all in with a larger portion at ₱375, this dish might just make you a regular at Dreyz.
Country-style Pork Cutlet
A hearty Filipino classic, the country-style pork cutlet tastes like a ticket to home for ₱185. Generously seasoned pork chop stars alongside a healthy amount of Sinangag broth and Atsara. It’s familiar and simple, yet timelessly stellar.
Spam Musubi Bowl
This dish is an after-school favorite made even more satisfying at only ₱210. Spam coated in Dreyz special sauce is served over a bed of warm rice, fried egg, diced cucumber, Nori, and spring onion. Take a bite with each ingredient for the best combo of textures.
Best of both worlds
Sushi and coffee don’t usually overlap in most spaces, but Dreyz Cafe has made a lovely little home for the two. It offers coziness and adventure, sweet and savory, all at once. Regardless of whether you’d like to study with a drink in the corner or catch up with your friends over a meal, there’s a safe space for you at Dreyz.
You’re welcome to drop by Dreyz Cafe on Leon Guinto street anyday, and at any time between 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
