The editorial board is led by Ryzza Ann Gadiano, a Diplomacy and International Affairs (AB-DIA) senior, who is now the Editor in Chief (Full-fledged). For the creatives pool, we also have five sections. On the other hand, ID123 Athaleah Nicolle Paris Bumagat from AB-Animation is the new Art & Design Editor (Full-fledged), while ID122 John Raphael Cadungog from Governance and Public Affairs takes the reins as the Photo Editor (Full-fledged). Herman James Villegas, ID123 who hails from Business Intelligence and Analytics (BSBA-BIA) program, assumes the position of Digital Media Editor (Acting).
Lastly, the role of Assistant Managing Editor (Full-fledged), a position which was newly introduced during the previous publication year, is undertaken by sophomore BSBA-BIA student Andriette Bihis.
All editors underwent a thorough application process that spanned two months, which included an onsite examination, submission of Shadow Tasks, a panel interview, a General Plan of Action (GPOA) presentation, checking of outputs, evaluation, residency hours, and academic standing, as well as careful deliberation by the outgoing editorial board members and associates of the Student Publications Unit (SPU).
In an interview with The Benildean, Gadiano shared the mission that BPC will undertake for the upcoming publication year. “We act as a voice and storytellers of individuals from diverse places, may it be in the Philippines or beyond. I would like for us to continue this mission to uphold and focus on the less saturated area of stories that would offer a new perspective to the Benildean community.”
She also looked back at her student journalist journey from being a writer for the Filipino section, then Associate Editor for Print, and now the newly appointed Editor in Chief. “I’ve learned that this responsibility isn’t something one person can carry alone, for it takes all of us.”
“Patuloy ang laban namin para sa malayang pamamahayag, sapagkat sa tinig namin nakaugat ang pag-asa ng bayan. Ngayong taon, dala namin ang paninindigang ito, hindi lamang para sa aming sarili, kundi para sa Benilde at ang mga komunidad na aming pinaglilingkuran,” Gadiano remarked.
