The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Blazers toppled the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) Altas, 78-51, extending their winning streak to four, today, Sept. 18, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Tony Ynot and Allen Liwag showed up early to start strong for the Benilde Blazers. However, back-to-back baskets by the Altas’ Shawn Orgo quickly evened the slate. Justine Sanchez and Gab Cometa pitched in for the men in green and white to close the first period with a lead, 18-10. The men from Las Piñas just could not convert their shots and execute their plays. On the other hand, the Taft squad continued their momentum by being excellent on both ends of the floor to close the half with a large two-digit lead, 50-29.

In the third period, the Blazers flaunted their depth as players like Ian Torres, John Morales, and Anton Eusebio showcased their potential. Although Perpetual’s Mark Gojo Cruz and Orgo stepped up and anchored the Altas, their efforts were not enough to cut the huge deficit as the team struggled offensively, 69-40.

The men in green and white did not look back as they headed into the final frame. The Taft squad continued to dominate until the final buzzer sounded to secure their fourth consecutive victory, 78-51.

Sanchez was crowned player of the game for the second straight time with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal.

The Blazers will face the Colegio De San Juan De Letrán (CJSL) Knights on Sept. 22 at the same venue with a live telecast on GTV and the NCAA Philippines Facebook and YouTube pages.
