Lady Blazers rack up back-to-back losses after defeat from FEU in V-League

The #LadyBlazers suffer another loss via sweep—this time against the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers absorbed their consecutive second loss in the 2024 V-League Collegiate Challenge, as they succumbed to the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 0-3, on Aug. 4 at the Paco Arena in Manila City.

The first two sets saw the Lady Tamaraws dominating the new-look Lady Blazers. In the first set, the Lady Blazers were keeping things afloat, even leading by a point, 14-13, after a Wielyn Estoque attack. However, the Lady Tamaraws took control of the remainder of the set with a 12-2 run and was ended by a Gerzel Petallo spike, 16-25.

The second set was a step down for the Lady Blazers, as the ladies from Morayta kept extending their lead from the start. FEU showcased their attacking and blocking, while the Lady Blazers could not tame their errors, shooting themselves in the foot with 10 in the set, all resulting in a 14-25 cruise by the Lady Tamaraws.

The third set was a different story. While the Lady Tamaraws were looking like they were running away with a sweep, the Lady Blazers looked to take each rally one at a time, as they even led 7-5 thanks to a Zamantha Nolasco score. Eventually though, the Lady Tamaraws grabbed the lead back as a Petallo service ace put them ahead 12-16 and forced Coach Jerry Yee to call timeout. While the Lady Blazers trimmed the lead down to one, the Lady Tamaraws pulled away in the end, 22-25.

Faida Bakanke was named player of the game after leading the Lady Tamaraws, dropping 12 points. Rhea Densing led the Taft squad after scoring 7 points.

The Taft squad is hoping to get their first taste of victory as they go up against the UP Fighting Maroons on Aug. 11, at the same venue, with live coverage on the V League Facebook page and website.

Set Scores: 16-25, 14-25, 22-25
