The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers’ lost their winning streak as the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws delivered a clean sweep, on July 14 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila City.

The Morayta squad came out firing led by middle blocker Jean Asis, opening the first set of the match with a quick five-point lead against the Taft squad. After a barrage of volleys from their opponents, Benilde team captain Jessa Dorog and outside hitter Wielyn Estoque tried to break the advantage of their opponents—but to no avail. The Lady Tamaraws capitalized the lack of chemistry of the Lady Blazers to close the set, 16-25.

The second set saw more of the same play, as relentless attacks and seamless defense from the ladies in green and yellow proved to be too much for the Lady Blazers to handle. A nine-point deficit loomed large for the flawless queens of the NCAA until Zam Nolasco broke the rhythm of their opponents to close the gap to six points. Despite the valiant efforts of Nolasco, FEU’s Faida Bakanke and Jazlyn Ellarina were on top of their game, sealing the set with 16-25.

The Taft squad finally found their rhythm in the third set with Cly Catarig providing the much needed spark. The first and only lead of the entire game came from Estoque, only to be shot down by the Morayta squad again. The Lady Tamaraws proved to be too strong for the Lady Blazers, 16-25, ending the game with a clean sweep, 0-3.
