The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lawn Tennis Teams continued to flare up their opponents to open up the second round of the NCAA Lawn Tennis Tournament on Mar. 19 at the Philippine Columbian Association Sports Club in Paco, Manila.

As the only remaining team without a loss throughout the tournament, the Benilde Blazing Netters opened the day against the University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA (UPHSD) Men’s Lawn Tennis Team. Carlo Ubalde made easy work of his opponent, giving the Taft squad their first sweep of the day, 2-0. The duo of Fern Po and Gian Macaraeg hopped on to the momentum, delivering a sweep of their own to conclude the doubles match, 2-0. Reyniel Marcellana made sure to replicate the outing of his teammates, out dueling his opponent to claim another sweep, 2-0. The men in green and white improve their win-loss record to 12-0.

After coming off an exhausting match against the San Beda University (SBU) Lady Red Netters, the Benilde Lady Netters made sure to keep things short against the Mapua University (MU) Lady Cardinals. Valerie Desoyo kicked things off for the ladies in green and white, after a dominant opening match, which resulted in a sweep, 2-0. A fresh set of faces was fielded in for the doubles match, as Daniela Dandalanin and Ghylliana Yu represented the Taft squad, despite seeing the lawn for the first time, the duo showed no signs of rust, as they dispatched their foes quickly with a 2-0 sweep. With Gabriella Zoleta currently sidelined due to a minor injury, Kiana De Asis stepped up to the plate, sweeping her opponent, 2-0. The Benilde Lady Netters piled up three more wins to retain the top spot.

The Benilde Blazing Netters are set to face the defending champions, the San Beda University (SBU) Red Netters next, while the Lady Netters are set to face the UPHSD Women’s Lawn Tennis Team on Mar. 21.

Catch both teams at the same venue for the NCAA Season99 Lawn Tennis Tournament until Mar. 23.
