Leni-Kiko tandem, senatorial slate dominate BPC mock elections


834 Benildean students participated in the #BPCMockElections2022 and casted their votes online over the course of two weeks.

Incumbent Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo and running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan achieved a landslide victory in the Benildean Press Corps’ (BPC) mock elections, which was held online from April 14 to 28. Furthermore, eight of 11 candidates of the Robredo-Pangilinan senate slate make it to the top 12 senators as voted by Benildeans. 

 

In preparation for the upcoming 2022 National Elections, BPC decided to conduct mock elections to not only help prepare the Benildean community, but to reveal which candidates and partylists the community is inclined to support and vote for.

 

The results of the mock elections are as follows:

 

President:

  • Robredo, Leni (Independent)  - 787 votes
  • Marcos, Ferdinand Jr. (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas) - 26 votes
  • De Guzman, Leody (Partido Lakas ng Masa)  - 10 votes
  • Domagoso, Isko Moreno (Aksyon Demokratiko) - 8 votes
  • Lacson, Ping (Independent) - 2 votes
  • Pacquiao, Manny Pacman (Abag Promdi) - 1 vote

 

Presidential

 

Vice-President:

  • Pangilinan, Kiko (Liberal Party)  - 756 votes
  • Duterte, Sara (Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats)  - 30 votes
  • Bello, Walden (Partido Lakas ng Masa) - 22 votes
  • Ong, Doc Willie (Aksyon Demokratiko) - 16 votes
  • Sotto, Vicente Tito (Nationalist People’s Coalition) - 8 votes
  • David, Rizalito (Democratic Party of the Philippines) - 1 vote
  • Atienza, Lito (Abag Promdi) - 1 vote

Meanwhile, eight of the 11 candidates under the Robredo-Pangilinan senate slate have managed to gain support from the Benildean community, namely; lawyer Chel Diokno, Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Sen. Leila de Lima, former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, lawyer and labor leader Sonny Matula, lawyer Alex Lacson, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, and Sen. Dick Gordon.

  • Diokno, Chel (KANP) - 798 votes
  • Hontiveros, Risa (Akbayan)  - 754 votes
  • de Lima, Leila (Liberal) - 674 votes
  • Colmenares, Neri (Makabayan) - 656 votes
  • Baguilat, Teddy (Liberal) - 650 votes
  • Espiritu, Luke (PLM) - 588 votes
  • Matula, Sonny (Independent) - 502 votes
  • Lacson, Alex (Ang Kapatiran) - 460 votes
  • Trillanes, Antonio (Liberal) - 398 votes
  • Labog, Elmer (Makabayan) - 378 votes
  • Zubiaga, Carmen (Independent) - 317 votes
  • Gordon, Dick (Bagumbayan) - 292 votes

 

Senatorial

 

When asked which three partylists they support the most, 380 Benildeans voted for Kabataan Partylist, followed by Gabriela Women’s Party with 372 votes, and Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party with 114 votes. 

 

Partylists

 

The mock election was open to all bonafide Benildean students of the second term of A.Y. 2021-2022, excluding those from the Benilde Senior High School (SHS). All participants were only allowed to vote once and all answers were verified by the usage of official Benilde mail accounts.

 

The 2022 National Elections will be held on May 9, Monday. Registered voters may verify their polling precinct online on the official COMELEC website here.
