AIESEC in UPD and UPM promote voters’ education with online convention “VOTED”


Take up your responsibility as a Filipino citizen and register to vote for the 2022 Philippine Elections, with the help of the voter’s empowerment convention “VOTED” by AIESEC in University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) and UP Manila (UPM).

To better prepare the youth and promote voter’s education for next year’s Philippine Elections, AIESEC in UP Diliman and UP Manila present their latest convention titled “VOTED,” with the theme “Maging Maalam, Kabataan: Bumoto at Manindigan.” The two-day event will be held virtually on June 25 and 26.

Designed for the youth, specifically senior high students, the online convention will be presenting several talks that delve into the contextualization of different social groups in the Philippines and how the government affects them. Furthermore, AIESEC in UPD and UPM endeavor to develop media literacy and critical thinking in today’s youth, especially when verifying and disseminating information online. 

 

The following the schedule of talks and activities prepared for the event:

 

Day 1 (June 25) 

  • Talk 1: Being Critical
  • Learning Activity 1: Find the Truth
  • Talk 2: Social Media Literacy

 

Day 2 (June 26)

  • Talk 1: Know your Community
  • Learning Activity 1: Mock Mayor Election
  • Learning Activity 2: How do you plan to respond?

 

Speakers will include the following  prominent figures and professionals:

  • Chair of the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) Atty. Chel Diokno
  • Kabataan Partylist Representative Sarah Elago
  • Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Franco Habijan
  • Director of Philippine General Hospital Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi
  • Clinical Assistant Professor at the UP College of Medicine Dr. Philip Nino Tan-Gatue
  • National Senior Enterprise Development Specialist of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Kathleen Ramilo
  • Renee Louis Co of the 38th Student Regent of UPM
  • Founder of “Vote Pilipinas” Ces Rondario
  • Multimedia Reporter at Rappler Mara Cepeda
  • Political Scientist Cleve Arguelles

 

With these activities, the organizations also aim to give the students opportunities to learn and grow, and that they are able to use their learnings in real life situations.
